At Walla Walla University I gained a passion for learning. Here I get to work on intriguing projects that challenge me. The mental agility required of me has truly changed my perception of information.
At PNNL we do all kinds of science! Which means we have to be able to understand all kinds of data. I've built visualizations tailored to unique data problems. I've also been able to work on generic visualizations for certain classes of data problems like understanding transactional data. I've been able to architect mono-repos, deep dive into performance optimizations in PIXI.js and create physics based visualizations.
For this position, I'm responsible for designing and implementing creative ways to connect the student body to ASWWU. One such example is a custom built job application web app. During my time in this position, I learned how effectively communicate with technical and nontechnical people. The ability to articulate ideas between the two has proven to be an important skill when leading projects. I'm currently working on integrating unit testing into one of ASWWU's core projects.
A year of working on fullstack projects left me with not only the ability to solve complex programming problems, but also the ability to work as part of a team. Integrating frontend apps with custom REST API's or Firebase taught me the ins-and-outs of web development and progarmming in general. The most important skill I obtained while working in this position was the ability to quickly teach myself new skills.
